What started out as a fun night with boxing hero Manny Pacquiao turned ugly in Vallejo on Nov. 17. Pacquiao performed a concert and held a meet-and-greet with fans at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club days after his TKO victory over Antonio Margarito. Local Filipino-American residents and officials of the financially distressed city were ecstatic.
Some city officials helped get the word out because the promoters reportedly wanted to do something good for the city. But a Balitang America story in the Philippine News reports that some fans soon got angry and demanded refunds for their $150 to $200 tickets because they did not get the chance to have a one-on-one picture taken with the eight-time world boxing champion.

The stubs, handed out to ticket holders said, “Good for one official Manny Pacquaio Photo: Keep this ticket to redeem your photo.” A volunteer explained, however, that the stubs never promised a photo with Manny Pacquiao, who left right after his concert, but that they simply promised a photo of the boxing champ. The mood turned ugly as angry fans pressed the local promoters for refunds.
